Trend Report: Girl’s Night In

March 5, 2009

l49014876210_60641Last week I attended the Shecky’s Girl’s Night Out event held at the Fashion Industry Gallery in Dallas, and if you don’t know about Shecky’s yet, please put it on your fashion radar screen.

I do believe it’s the only event where you can sip complimentary cocktails all night long, grab chic fashions at amazing prices and score up to $100 in free swag inside Shecky’s Goodie Bag. This year’s event was sponsored by Skyy and Midori, as Rachel Ray would say, YUM-O! I even met two new fashionista friends walking into the event and we sampled products together the rest of the evening.

I met some very diverse local designers, many of them displaying their lines of jewelry ranging from sterling silver and turquoise pieces to jeweled rings and pins. I even met an eco friendly graphic T shirt designer (very ‘on trend’) who utilizes artists from all over the world to create unique, one-of a kind designs. Being green never looked so good!

But what caught my attention was how many of the vendors were tapping into the girl’s night in and home party industry. Who wouldn’t want to be pampered in the luxury of their own digg?

My hands down, stop traffic, double taking favorite had to be Booty Parlor. No, that was not a typo — Booty Parlor had me at the first glance of their line of, ummm “goodies.”

A ‘Bootician’ will actually come to your home and throw you and your girlfriends a party where you can explore the possibilities that come with massage oil candles, edible glitter (yes I tried this!) and other flirty bedroom accessories. Did it get hot in here or is it just me?

And I also know the inside scoop about four fabulous women in Dallas who picked up on this trend last year when they launched ShuAddikt, a new designer shoe boutique that will absolutely cater to your every fashion craving. These ladies offer free personal stylists to women all over the country who desire this VIP treatment. And the fashion-forward women in Dallas can even book their own private trunk show to spend an evening with all their girl friends sipping some vino, gossiping and of course, ‘Shu’ shopping. (And a little blue bird told me that ShuAddikt will be at the Shecky’s event in Dallas this Fall to prescribe remedies to all of the addikts attending!)

So if this weekend you don’t feel l ike putting in all that effort to get dolled up and go out on the town, have a girl’s night in. Whether you are feeling frisky and bootilicious or longing for your next ‘sole-mate’ you and your posse are in for an fabu evening dedicated to the most important people – yourselves!

I already have my ShuAddikt show scheduled, do you?
