Giddy up girls, this week The Cut Reports that, “Wendy Nichol is three seasons into her eponymous line and can already count Scarlett Johansson and models Kim Noorda and Elizabeth Jagger among her many fans.

Not too shabby, considering she is completely self-taught. Following a four-year stint as a buyer and designer at Club Monaco, Nichol left to pursue her own label, which debuted in fall ’08. Her first collection was a mix of tough leather cuffs, feminine pearl necklaces, and delicate rings, all accented with her now-trademark studs. Nichol’s youngest daughter, Sofia, served as the look-book model, glammed up with red lips and perfecting a pose worthy of a Jurgen Teller–shot Little Marc ad. Nichol shopped the pieces around and landed at Brooklyn’s Bird.

Fast forward a year later and the likes of Bergdorf and Barneys Co-op are stocking the ever-expanding line, which now also includes bags. Citing cowboys and Native Americans as her main inspiration, Nichol’s fall collection consists of fringed clutches and horsehair-accented jewelry named after chiefs and princess, outlaws, and notable cowboys and cowgirls. The addition of chains and spikes toughen up Western-inspired pieces, giving it a slick urban vibe. Prices begin at $100 for small studded earrings and top out at $700 for a large fringed saddle bag, with all items sourced and constructed locally. Check out some of our favorite looks from her line.”

These remind me of a classier version of a Cowboys/Indians party I went to freshman year at college. Emphasis on classier.

Well Ms. Nichols’ fabulous pieces may set you back a penny or two, I found some great mock-offs that are recession and fashion friendly.

How about this leather and stone necklace from – Tar- zjay?

Yes mam, that is just a little more than a frozen yogurt and a Coke Zero.

And this bag is extremely versatile from Urban Outfiters:

It appears the Urban Cowgirl is just so cute that even the surfers and Yankees will participate.

So – What are your favorite designer pieces? Mock-offs?

This trend might just stay as long as the deer and antelope play.

XOXO

It’s that time again, this week’s trend report is the official Oligoville Resort Report. With dozens of amazing designers presenting dazzling accessories, handbags and threads we had to pick a few of our faves to share with you.

While neutrals are present in many Resort collections, I must respectfully look the other way. Nothing against the hues, but as you ladies know, I’m just not a neutral kind of girl.

This resort reprt is all about color and here are some of my top selections from the trends this year.

Best of Resort #1: Candy Colors

Best of Resort #3: Navy and Gold

French Connection top:

Proenza Schouler sandal (so hot):

So those are some of my top pieces, but what about complete collections?

A savvy fashionista from NY divulges her top designers, which I must respect and agree with her insider opinion: “[My] three favorite collections shown at New York during Resort 2009 fashion week dazzled me with their lovely, feminine sophistication note. First of all I love their chromatic palettes: white and off-white, grey, rose, crimson red, midnight blue, navy and black and the subtle refinement of the delicate details: ruffles, draping and other embellishments. These are clothes to keep in your wardrobe forever and not just for one holiday.

Carolina Herrera, recently granted with Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award at CFDA, brought out an impeccable chic collection, as always, though with a cheerful, breezy note, perfect for resort: orchid print, wide-leg fluid trousers, sheath dresses with delicate frills, long gowns with bold prints…simply stunning.

Carolina Herrera Resort 2009

Donna Karan showed a romantic resort collection that included delicate pieces in soft makeup colors – blushes, pinks and nudes – emphasized by deep black. Soft fabrics and different textures are cut into gently bubbled silhouettes. Draping or feminine embellishments such as bows add a lot of chic appeal while those breathtaking one-shouldered draped gowns in jersey and silk make you wish a never-ending holiday.

Donna Karan Resort 2009

Zac Posen‘s resort collection is just as lovely and chic and, most of all, very wide-range reaching all sort of sartorial needs that might occur during vacation time. Cocktail dresses with floral prints for outdoor parties, crisp tennis whites for smart looks, loose garments for strolls on a beach and even short dance frocks or Grecian evening gowns.”

Zac Posen Resort 2009

While I won’t be sporting these looks at the lake on this holiday, maybe some of you will at more glamorous locations. These Resort picks are styles that will keep you on the edge of fashion whether you are in the Hamptons, on the beach or staying haute in the City.

XOXO

Art has always and will always imitate life - as well as other art. Fashion and art are one in the same; fashion will forever be a medium for expression, interpretation and serve as an extension of ourselves.

My fashion insider concurs, “As more segments of society begin to understand the power of clothing as a mechanism of expression, the natural merger between avant-garde art and fashion will continue to grow. With a great multitude of artists continuing to communicate the need for changes in the way we view ourselves, our relationships with each other and the environment we live in, it seems only natural that the canvas of the human body is next in line as the foremost bearer of this message.”

Just ask Marc Jacobs. The forward-thinking designer recently paired back up with Takashi Murakami to to mark six years of collaboration. After the release of the Jacob’s Multicolor Spring Palette, Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami launched a colorful anime short film as a sequel to Murakami’s “Superflat Monogram” anime short from 2003.

Entitled “Superflat First Love” the film showcases a school girl experiencing all the fascinations of Murakami’s characters which are part of his latest project with Louis Vuitton with this mystical journey starting outside the store.

The plush character ho atars in the new film can now be sen in Jacob’s stores, uniting fashion and art.

Previous work from Murakami led to the creation of the iconic Monogram Multicolore which has become a popular fixture replicating itself on various fronts.

Similarly NY Magazine’s The Cut feature, ”Sergio Rossi’s Resort Collection Inspired by Art, Architecture” highlights another cutting edge designer motivated by his artistic surroundings.

“There’s nothing we like to look at more than shoes. Seriously, we could do it all day, people. So imagine our bliss at being able to preview the Sergio Rossi Resort collection, which will be available on the designer’s website and at Saks Fifth Avenue come fall. Creative director Francesco Russo was inspired by art and architecture, citing Zaha Hadid as a reference. The super-skinny stiletto heels (the reps swore they were very stable and easy to walk in) are ultra-feminine and sophisticated for night, while the thick wedges with soft napa leather straps are more graphic and practical for day. Of the vibrant collection, we especially love the hot-pink suede slingbacks (a big color this season) and the towering sky-blue leather platforms with sexy double ankle straps. The prices are steep ($450 to $925), but there’s no harm in looking (and lusting!).”

A new Oligoville artsy find is also the proud company who was selected as the number one choice at the Bazaar Bizarre for the San Francisco Bay Guardian’s Best of the Bay, Nouveau Motley.

The boutique designs beautiful handmade Steampunk jewelry of the highest quality for the discriminating Neo-Victorian enthusiast. And they are gorgeous. Find their award winning collection here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=18695&order=&section_id=&page=2

Their name alone may very well describe their philosophy better than even I can articulate:
Nouveau- [NOO-voh] adj. Recently created, developed, or come to prominence. New and different, often fashionably so.

Motley- [MOT-lee] noun. diverse and varied. Assorted: consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds (even to the point of incongruity). A woolen fabric of mixed colors made in England between the 14th and 17th centuries: the traditional costume of the Court jester or the Harlequin character in Commedia dell’arte

Got it? Maybe this visual will help (that also happens to be in my shopping cart):

“The Queen’s Jewels,” well if the shoe fits.

And I know all of you lovelys read my cocktail ring trend report, but I must revisit the fabulous accessory to bring you “The Museum Collection” by Lisa Paik. This divine collection is comprised of 8 fun and unique cocktail rings that are each inspired by a work of art or an artist’s collective works. All rings feature Swarovski crystals and are priced under $90. Check these jems out here: www.lisapaik.com.

I must agree and note that the Starry Night Ring also happens to be my favorite collegiate color. Coincidence? I think not.

Okay ladies, it’s time to mind our Mother—Earth. Believe it or not it IS possible to be fashionable, fabulous and eco-friendly all at the same time. While doing some late-night online research (….or midnight shopping splurge) I found a few amazing retailers who help women stay environmentally conscious in their own unique way. And lord knows I could use help with that, seeing that I spray enough Tresume to penetrate the ozone over the state of Texas.
So, here goes:

1. Charmone “Charming Shoes in Harmony with the Earth”

This online shoe boutique believes no one should sacrifice their style conscious just to serve their social conscience. These ladies make designer shoes in Italy and Brazil using only eco-friendly and vegan materials. Who knew that was even possible?! Vice President Jodi Koskella and her business partner actually have a background in software marketing and dived into designing shoes a few years ago and they have clearly found their calling! The designer styles are funky and fun mixed with a variety of styles and bright colors. The shoes have some very cute names as well. I’m currently deciding between the Bellini, Thistle (in Cherry print) or the Ginseng in either Expresso or Grass print (gotta love that green)…. or all of the above. Check them out at www.Charmone.com and as if you didn’t need more of a reason to, the shoes ship in just 1-2 days!

2. Spora “Brazilian Seeds in Jewelry”

For those of you that missed that language lesson in high school, Spora is Greek for “seed.” Owner and designer Patricia Couto Glover combines materials from a diversity of sources: seeds from Brazil, and some from the Philippines; brass beads and clasps from Indonesia and semi-precious stones found all over the world. And we all know the idea of using seeds to make jewelry is not a new one. But what is fresh about spóra is its use of seeds. The combination of a rustic element with more “sophisticated” materials like semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, and metals. Ironically, it is the organic beauty of these seeds that makes this jewelry precious: original and unique. Spóra embodies the ethnicity of a global village. Most of all, Glover believes spóra is about beauty—it is affordable art to wear. These necklaces are an invitation: make yourself, and life, beautiful with art. www.sporadesign.com

3. The Ecoist “Recycled Candy-Wrapper Handbags”

Yes, you read that correctly. Ecoist handbags and all other designer items on its site are made from repurposed materials (like discarded food packages, soda bottle labels, rice bags, soda can pull-tabs, candy wrappers, and movie billboards) as well as sustainable fabrics such as Jute, Hemp, and organic cotton. Very innovative idea but the implementation of this concept sets the Ecoist apart from other contenders in the eco-friendly handbag arena. Elle magazine agrees and noted the accessories to have “Sleek and eye-popping designs.” Who can argue with that? I have my eye on the sophisticated clutch seemingly made out of recycled Andes mints and also enjoy the clutch/coinpurse created out of newspaper. And while some of the prices on the site vary, the Ecoist added sections under $25 and under $50 items to fit and green fashionistas budget. www.ecoist.com

These are just a few of the many green accessories you can gander into this summer. But these three are Oligoville approved and sure to keep you and our lovely environment looking green and gorgeous.

Listen up — Fashionista MEN — Kris Allen just proved to the world why sometimes, it’s good to be on the bottom. (wink, wink) We have our new reigning American Idol and he will bring a new laid back, eclectic artist style that he may pull off even better than Keith Urban and Jason Mraz. It’s true, Kris Allen knows how to make today’s trends work for him and looks so comfortable on stage. And ladies, we will be seeing a lot more of him very soon! These trends come straight from the Idol insider that has been following Allen on his entire journey — and maybe you should just make your man read this post to bring out the idol in him.

First lets notice the hair.

#1: A Touch of Funk

If John Mayer & Jason Mraz could have a love child, it’d be Kris Allen. His style is as laid back as his personality but Kris adds in just a touch of funk to keep things interesting. He’s got the burns goin’ on but keeps the hair short and sorta mussed. It works for him and it’ll work for you too.

#2: Rock ‘n’ Roll Swag

I think because Kris was a bit overwhelmed by the hometown response this particular weekend, he had a bit of a hard time figuring what to wear. I told him not to over think things. Although I’d wanted to change his image in the beginning, his ‘boy next door’ image had not done him any harm at all, and if that made him comfortable on stage, embrace it! We found the jacket and tee at Diesel, and after that it was plain sailing. The black top for the second song actually had metal thread in it, which caught the light just enough to give it a stage presence. Kris wanted to wear a clean dark jean with both outfits, but I managed to persuade him to wear the distressed Joes Jeans, to dirty up the whole look and make him a bit more rock ‘n’ roll. Boy next door goes a little bad, anyone?

annnnd …

#3 : (via tvwatch.people.com) The Johnny Depp Analogy:

Look, Johnny Depp is a huge, glamorous, risk-taking star, but off camera doesn’t he look like someone you could scare with a sock puppet? Something like this comes into play with Kris. Simon has faulted him for not having star swagger, something Adam exudes with every flash of his smile and swivel of his hips. But what may seem like modesty on a live stage can project to the viewing audience as a different kind of charisma — cool, even. Just because Adam rules the stage doesn’t mean he rules the camera.

Fellas take notice because this is your future and if you don’t adopt this style you will have to at least appreciate why your girlfriend is swooning over Mr. Allen. And ladies, feel free to comment and note your favorite looks over the past weeks from your new American Idol: Kris Allen!!

Hallelujah! It’s official, the battle between the defined versus the undefined waist is over! Accentuating your waist and creating curves is a classy (and sexy) fashion trend this fall, and in my opinion is always in style.

Earlier this month The Cut revealed the hottest upcoming trends and defining your waist made the list as as one of the top 9 trends of the season, “The waist is in for fall. Belts will come large, thin, and corseted — a little something for everyone. Balenciaga’s waist is sashed, feminine, defined, and girlie. Lanvin showed a skinny belt that was a nice color contrast with the dresses. Ann Demeulemeester’s corseted version has a twinge of S&M: slightly naughty and dangerous. If you needed any confirmation, Michelle Obama’s already wearing buckled belts frequently.”

Here is a gorgeous and sleek interpretation of how to clinch your waist by Oscar de La Renta.

One fashionista loves the idea of this Fall trend and describes it as, “So Mad-Men-meets-June-Cleaver but with a modern sensibility.” I couldn’t have said it better. “Belts that emphasized the waist, volume that’s been controlled via pleats, darts or tucks and skinny pants are all part of a bigger trend: the sleek silhouette.”

Let me also point out a trend: Michelle Obama as a new fashion icon. Her style caught our eye during the campaign and now she is bringing classic looks back into the White House and into our closets. You can’t ignore her power and grace in her array of J. Crew threads; we can’t keep our eyes off of her! The truth is, a sleek silhouette and a belted, clinched feminine waist is far from a new discovery. Michelle Obama is bringing back a 50′s sense of style that we haven’t seen executed so well since Jackie Kennedy.

And I can’t be happier! I hope this is the end of the bag-like dresses that hang shapeless from our bodies that don’t even look that appealing hanging from the walls of our favorite stores.

And I cannot talk about the skill of clinching your waist without mentioning one of my favorite fashion icons: Grace Kelly who effortlessly always looks fabulous and divine. Some of my favorite wardrobe selections comes from the movie Rear Window, a classic Hitchcock thriller where Kelly paired with James Stewart as well as some gorgeous dresses.

Here is just one amazing dress she wore in the flick:

I personally was inspired by Mrs. Obama and Ms. Kelly two weeks ago while shopping for a daytime wedding, always a difficult task (especially with the ever-changing weather in Texas). I ignored my urges to select a dress from the popular colors this spring and instead chose a classic, yet unexpected piece doing some last minute shopping. My eyes fell on a sateen stretch color block dress by DKNY and I had to try it on. It was strapless– a risk for sure– but grabbed my size and carried my new find determined to the dressing room. Amazingly, it fit perfectly. When does that happen? The store attendant said it was sassy, and it was.

Simple and classy. White on top with a black accent around the waist that hit at the perfect place. The bottom was slimming and the best part is that it has pockets, how fun.

Well, maybe the best part was that it was actually on sale, further justifying my purchase that I had already been running through all the different examples of how I could re-use this classic dress. Which meant I could buy a fabulous pair of Marc Fisher “Samelia” pumps: black leather ice snake to be exact. I realize I am sounding a bit like the character from Confessions of a Shopaholic, but with my savings from the dress it’s as if the shoes were free!

Mr. Fisher describes them as, “ A glam pump that’s perfect for making an entrance.” And did I ever. I little flare on my feet to pair with my DKNY waist clinching love. If I felt any better I would have been the bride.

XOXO

After doing some primary research today (aka attending the Kate Spade fashion show featuring fashion icon Tim Gunn at NorthPark) I came to the conclusion that colorful accessories this Spring will add life to existing pieces in your closet or compliment some brand new threads.

Gunn disclosed some of his best tips for pairing accessories this Spring as well as advising Dallas fashionistas to revisit what we have in our closet and “take a chance” with color. (Other secrets disclosed included having jeans of varying lengths and his political answer about which one of the Project Runway contestants were his favorite — (which was none, ‘they are all like his children’)– but he did divulge which contestant from each season he would NOT want to be stuck on a deserted island with; information we were much more pleased in hearing!)

The store debuted new lines of jewelry, bags, clutches and shoes ranging from hues of blue, pinks, yellow and citrus — just in time for Mother’s Day.

Here are some of my faves from the day:

The Sophie: Classic linen orange slingbacks with a polished burl wood heel are summer personified and are sure to make a statement. These would perfectly compliment a spring dress, skirt or and a pop of color to some skinny jeans. My favorite part? The beautiful heel with depths of color! These also come in a timeless black and white zebra print.

Idiom Bangles: These classic gold and enamel bangles celebrate some of KS’s favorite turns of phrase, delicately printed inside. Little idioms include, “The grass is always greener,” “Dive in” and “Walk on air” among about a dozen other fun and flirty phrases. I do believe Tim captured it best saying that these colorful bracelets are, “Fortune cookies for you wrist.”

Junebug Ladybug Rings: Out of a huge case of jewelry I must say these caught my eye and made me smile. A charming jewelry zoo of snails, fish and frogs dance on delicate gold chains in these delightful accessories. Although I wouldn’t want them hanging from my neck or ears, the rings were my favorite pick and in my opinion, a perfect way to celebrate the season being light-hearted and fun.

Other highlights of the day included transforming the LBD to fit three distinct settings. 1) From work, “Making it work at work,” said Mr. Gunn with metallic flats with perfectly pedicured feet to 2) a cocktail happy hour with a chunky red necklace and versatile clutch then to 3) an evening event pairing the black staple item with bright royal blue pumps; Why be like every other woman with a black bag and shoes? These are just a few examples of how accessories can define and shape your outfit.

Ms. Kouk’s review of the fashion event and seeing Mr. Gunn up close and personal?

Two thumbs up.

XOXO

What’s hot this Summer and Fall 2009? Neon and it was evident as it showed up brightening the runways at New York Fashion Week. And while European lines on the other hand featured less of these bright shades, they certainly enbraced the neon trend in last month’s issue of VOGUE.

“This season’s explosive new shades pack a powerful punch. Tangerine, citrine and dynamic neons make for a tangy combination, as bold colour- block dresses light up the night.”

See one of their neon dresses below, combining two of the latest trends, bright, bold color and geometric patterns.

If you have read anything in the past couple months in industry publications you can see all the fashion influential designers such as Gucci, Dior, Chanel, Balenciaga, Diane Von Furstenberg experiment with these styles and color.

Neon bright hues of orange, yellow, pink and blue are everywhere for summer, for those that enjoy the spotlight and all the attention that comes with it. Ranging from bags, jewelry and clothes, this shiny hue will be the highlight of our closets whether we chose to indulge in a little or a lot of this fashion heat wave.

According to my very credible and unidentified sources; “Bold colors will continue to dominate fashion trends. Bright oranges and blues were present on most catwalks. Whether worn as part of the outfit or as an accessory, these statement colors will undoubtedly help fashionable women and men express their style and personality.”

Yes, don’t let your boyfriends or gay husbands escape this trend, embrace it! I especially loved the neon pink scarf seen at fashion week wrapped around a very handsome Hilfiger model. Hot neon scarfs are a guarenteed way to stay warm on cool fall nights. And oversized geometric jackets and shalls were seen draped around the female models stretching neon into (count it) three seasons for fashionistas with vibrant, vivd florescent color.

The LA Times recently reported on the neon craze, “A trend that started on the street, it’s now filtered up to the runway with Michael Kors’ sporty, traffic-cone-orange sweater and fox fur coat, Narciso Rodriguez’s acid-yellow bandage dress and Marc Jacobs’ electric-blue scuba-inspired poncho. A pop of color is all you need to liven up the neutrals in your wardrobe. No cash for flash? Hit the drugstore and pick up some neon lipstick or nail polish instead. Viva the 1980s.”

While I am not so sure about the neon lipstick, I do know that a splash of neon color can instantly update and refresh your wardrobe. This is also an ideal way for ladies used to blacks and neutrals to try out hints of color through accessories or a new skirt with a white/neutral top.

One fashion writer consurs and gives caution, “Neon is on the rise. But don’t get too excited, you don’t want end up like nineties roadkill. Instead, what you’re aiming for is a subtle flash of neon, a wonderful spring glow. Chances are you’ve already thrown out brightly colored scarves, blouses maybe even your neon Pez dispensers. You only need a small amount of color to make a statement. Bright colors can be mixed and matched too for a bolder look.”

Wow Pex dispensers, I don’t think they will make a big come back this year but now you all have been educated on the neon trend, not just for Spring 2009 but Summer and Fall as well.

I’ll leave you with this last comment on how this bright trend can instant dull your fashion sense.

If you aren’t all over neon, start by mixing and matching becasue even the most confident diva can have a hard time puilling off a complete neon outfit. Be smart, use age appropriate colors and ladies, it feels “wrong” in front of the mirror, chances are you might be right.

XOXO

Forget Celebrity Apprentice, here are the Top 5 Celebrity designers all women should have their eyes on.

1. Ms. Lohan (Post-Rehab)

Yes, your eyes are just fine! Lindsay Lohan’s clothing collection, 6126 is really making waves and she is excited as ever: “I love to wear leggings, so it should come as no surprise that my first venture into the world of fashion with leggings! I named the collection after Marilyn Monroe’s birthdate, because to me she represents timeless, confident glam and that is the voice of this brand. (Lindsay posed as Marilyn Late last year)

2. Nicole Richie: A Step Ahead of the Rest (Post-Rehab, Post-Baby)

A Los Angeles publication reported yesterday that, “Nicole Richie made her debut in the fashion world when she unveiled her jewelry line, House of Harlow. She is now expanding the line to include shoes.

Along with footwear, the expanded line will be called the House of Harlow 1960. It will also include bags, sunglasses, belts and other smaller accessories. The collection will feature 20 new footwear styles and will premiere in the spring of 2010.

Richie’s business partner, Rick Cytrynbaum, spoke to People magazine saying, “Nicole is designing everything herself. She’s totally devoted to this, and we’re creating a whole lifestyle around her aesthetic and what is true to her.”‘

3. Britney Sweet as Candy: (Post-Rehab, Post-Rehab, Post-baby, Post-baby)

JustJared comments, ‘Britney shows off her rockin’ bod in this new Candie’s promotional poster for her upcoming spring Candie’s campaign.

“I had so much fun shooting the Candies for Kohl’s campaign,” the 27-year-old mother-of-two recently said. “My favorite set-up was against the gigantic wall of pink cotton candy.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK of Britney’s new Candie’s ad — HOT or NOT?’

4. Taylor Swift: Recessionista Chic (Post-High School)

Attention, Wal-Mart shoppers!

19-year-old country singer Taylor Swift, whose album “Fearless” has topped the charts for the last seven weeks and includes the hit single “Love Story,” is launching a line called L.E.I. Sundresses by Taylor Swift, hit Wal-Mart stores Feb. 1 of this year.

MomLogic broke the news identifying three styles — ‘a tie-back dress, printed tie-back dress and printed tier dress. Two additional styles were added last month. All dresses will retail for $14. Yes, fourteen bucks!

“It was very important for me to create cute, affordable dresses,” Swift said. “Especially in these hard times, making expensive dresses just doesn’t make any sense.”

Amen, sister. Gotta love that.’

5. Jessica Simpson: An Intimate Affair (Post-Mom Jean Appearance)

Ms. Simpson has a new intimates line to debut this Spring. The Stylist comments “She is famous for her double D’s, so it’s no surprise that Ms. Simpson wants to design her own lingerie line. “I like different lingerie for different occasions. You can feel sexy or girly depending on your mood,” she says. Will Simpson skivvies be a success? Stay tuned…”

She also has some competition in this category, Ms. Janet Jackson launched a competing line, Pleasure Principle. But, ‘Believe it or not J-Simp is one of the most successful celebrity designers out there. Her shoe line has been nothing short of an outrageous hit with young women. So can she do it again? Time will tell…and in the mean time, tell us — Would you buy Jessica’s “intimates?”‘

Honorable Mention: LC (Post-Laguna, Post-Hills)

Fashion sites jumped on LC after finding out that she went out of business on March 23, 2009. Her Qualifications according to The Stylist? ’An unfinished stint at L.A.’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, two years of sorting samples in Teen Vogue’s West Coast fashion closet and a new gig with pal Whitney Port at the fashionable PR firm People’s Revolution prepped LC for her own designing gig.’

Conrad insists that she is coming back to relaunch; but will her designer duds be just as pricey? Or will her followers have to opt for the cheaper, less classy more trashy Spiedy Collection? Ouch! We all are pulling for LC.

XOXO

I must take a stance here and say that some trends were meant to stay in their respective decade. Period. This fashion faux pas had it’s mini comeback in 2007 and now wants another round? I think not!

Two years ago E! Online had this to say about the one piece wonder:

“Originally designed for skydiving purposes, jumpsuits were made famous by Elvis Presley, who bedazzled the one-pieces in the disco era. Decades later, Jennifer Lopez brought back the trend by wearing a Frankie B. jean version on her J.Lo album cover, and the style was immediately mimicked by everyone from Melissa Joan Heart to Carmen Electra. Now the jumpsuit is back—and hotter than ever, with a plethora of styles for every climate and occasion.”

“I like to think of jumpsuits as discreetly sexy,” says Frankie B. owner Daniella Clarke, the wife of former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke. “Jumpsuits magnify curves, so use them to your advantage.”

I’m sorry, I don’t believe I need any help in the department of magnifying my curves. Got that one covered.

I was bewildered when I saw a segment on E! this week showing off the hottest jumpsuits. Apparently they just can’t get enough of ‘em!

You can even get strapless jumpsuits to showoff your arms this summer. Lucky me! What ever happened to the flirty sundress? The material and lack of shape of the jumpsuits, especially the strapless, just looked so awkward.

And although I lahv lahv lahv The Hills (ladies, premiere this Monday!) but even Audrina is guilty of abandoning her fashion sense and jumping onto the jumpsuit band wagon. The title says it all, “Audrina Patridge is a Black Satin Jumpsuit Mess.”

Spotted: “The Hills star Audrina Patridge is usually known for donning very tight, revealing ensembles, especially when out partying. But last night she hit up Bar Deluxe in Los Angles wearing an ill-fitting black satin tube-top jumpsuit circa 1987 with silver platform heels. Her big fake boobs looked like they were suffocating, while the rouching around the mid-section did her tiny figure no favors.

Seriously, Audrina? Vintage is in, but this is ridiculous!”

Ouch, sounds like a classic Jessica Simpson blunder. Mom jeans, jumpsuits, ladies please learn from their very public mistakes.

Very few women can pull off even the more ‘flattering’ jumpsuits (and I do believe that’s because it’s an oxymoron).

But to point out a couple decent (it hurts to say) examples of how this trend can be seen, here:

Well, she’s pretty hot, but also a foot taller than me and a fraction of the weight. So if you look just like her, go, go now and wear this trend and look less silly than the rest of the fashion offenders.

There was even a jumpsuit from Express that actually caught my eye two weeks ago; but it undoubtedly magnified my curves and I concluded that it looked much better hanging on the wall.

I also liked a long sleeved flowy linen jumpsuit on the segment from the jumpsuit fanatics, E! I could really see myself wearing it on a beach as a cover-up or on some international cruise. But, not walking around in downtown Dallas.

So, whatever your take is on this Elvis-like trend, I just hope I never see it on you in orange.

…not so flattering after all.

XOXO
