FASHION BY THE RULES: Voyage!

August 30, 2010

Having just returned to the city from a one week idyll at several beaches, one can only be reminded of those places by the scent of that cool ocean breeze or those specifically indigenous aromas that remind us of those happy moments while on vacation.

Melanie Apple-Fields has endeavored to capture these times that we most cherish while on vacation, the times when we are freed of everyday jobs and domestic routine. Her specific travels to the resorts of Europe have led her to create “re-livable memories” through the distinct smells that one encounters while “en vacances.”

There are candles, “rocks,” soaps, sprays for your bed linens, and lotions for the body. Let the essences of Majorca, Mykonos, and Capri, Monaco. Cap Ferrat and many more envelop you into the most peaceful and restful times of your day to day lives. All of the products are uniquely packaged of recycled materials and are created of 100% natural products and manufactured domestically, here in the United States.

As an extra dimension to her already growing roster of products, Ms. Apple-Fields has just added a small selection of ready to wear. The tunics are travel inspired yet suitable for city wear as well. The tunics have a slight Moroccan inspiration yet perfectly cosmopolitan.

Be sure to visit her website at www.voyagecandle.com for the full selection of sizes and scents and as always, you can find me on Facebook and http://jeffybruce.blogspot.com/.

Jessica Alba NY SoHo Street Style

August 27, 2010

Most of the time when one thinks of a long denim skirt, disaster comes to mind. But Jessica Alba defines the odds and takes a denim a-line over the knee skirt and makes it SoHo chic.

How does she pull this off? Simple. Trendy accessories such as a skinny braided belt, gladiator sandals, cat eye sunglasses, and a brooch pendant necklace really pull the almost matronly skirt into NY style.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Faith Hill in NYC Street Style

Gwyneth Paltrow and Faith Hill NYC Street Style

New York street style at its best. Gwyneth Paltrow and Faith Hill looked like the girls next door in casual day wear while dining out. Gwyn’s style is bohemian inspired with silk harem pants, loose razorback tank, and thick centered gladiator sandals. Its trendy, but includes very basic items.

Faith shows an unusually edgier side with a cotton button down shirt, tattered jean shorts, and rocker combat boots. The boots essentially make this outfit stand out with style. Combat boots are a huge statement, but done with a preppy button down is a great even balance. Click around on the collage below and get their street style!
