cutouts

  • Cutouts in the daring, Cushnie et Ochs sense may not be for everyone, but as you can see below, there are plenty of ways to try out this trend without baring the odd patch of skin or looking too much like an Erin Wasson hipster copycat. Elle.com
  • On last night’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, Tyra Banks brought the girls to a sugarcane field in Hawaii. She decided to dress them up as bi-racial, which means blackface for some. “It’s going to suck to scrub it off later,” says one contestant. “I’ve always wondered what I’d look like as a different race,” enthuses another. A Little Piece of Heaven

October 29, 2009

vsatopVirgins, Saints and Angels is a line of jewelry that has been sent to us mere mortals from the gods above. The gorgeous pieces have been catching the eyes of celebrities like Miley Cyrus and the members of the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

After looking through the variety of pieces, I quickly realized why this particular line was hotter than Hades. The hard work and craftsmanship is evident in each piece. The detailing in this line is nothing short of divine. Another delightful facet about VSA, are the names of each piece; “Heavenly”, “Temptation”, and “Archangel”, just to name a few.

If you are on the hunt for these treasures, good luck! VSA jewelry cannot be found anywhere; making it a little bit of a challenge to become an owner. But, hey, who does not love a little challenge? Especially, when it comes to owning that perfect piece of jewelry; can I get an Amen?

Celebrity Style: Jeggings

October 28, 2009

Jeggings are a recent addition to the leggings family that many of us cant seem to figure out if we are going to welcome them into our closets or try everything to keep them out. For lovers of skinny jeans, jeggings are your new best friend as they combine attributes from jeans, such as color and style making a mixture of stretchy fabric with the denim appeal.

For those not familiar with this new “brilliant” term, jeggings were formulated by the trendsetters at Top Shop who claim the brand’s jean + legging hybrid is knit from cotton, polyester, and spandex, for the skinny jean painted on look but without having to use the pliers to get you into them.

Some celebs have been taking this fashion trend and going a little bit off-roading. Whitney Port gave us an example of jeggings that did not work along with Ciara and Angela Simmons. All three are examples of how NOT to wear your new poly-blend. Buyer beware of fabric choice and top length.

But what if you do fancy this new breed of leggings? Well, celebs like Sienna Miller definitely make jeggings work into a casual outfit. Pairing them with layers works best to dress up the hybrid pant. Sienna has a navy jersey cardigan, light fall scarf, and chic black booties to make her style stand above the rest. The key here is that Sienna’s leg wear are similar style to denim jeans in both fabric and cut which allows her to wear a shorter length top.

With jeggings that are made of denim-looking fabric but without jean style pockets should be worn with longer tees that are at least upper thigh length.

So will you welcome the new legging into your family closet? Take a peek at the ShopStyle fashion widget for the different blends, washes, and styles of the new jegging and see how Sienna got her look.
