- Calvin Klein hasn’t produced a TV commercial for its Jeans line since the Eighties — remember those Brooke Shields ads? — but the brand will soon be back on the airwaves with a commercial that is so provocative it initially was banned from even late-night cable TV. WWD
- Hello Kitty is taking on Barbie for the title of most fashionable plaything. Fashion folk find themselves falling all over to dress Barbie and Ms. Kitty for Fashion Week events. According to a New York Times article, Barbie, who turns 50 next month, is having a runway show on Feb. 14 in Bryant Park, with Barbie-inspired clothes by one group of designers. Hello Kitty was set to show off looks by another group at a party Thursday night given by MAC, which has also created a new Hello Kitty cosmetics collection. Who will be the bigger fashionista?
- After holding runway shows under a big tent in Bryant Park for 15 years, organizers of New York’s Fashion Week are expected to announce on Tuesday that they will move the event to Lincoln Center, beginning in 2010. NYT
- Monique Lhuillier is joining the growing number of fashion labels that is introducing lower-priced pieces—in response to requests from retailers, the designer, whose evening gowns typically are priced between $3,000 and $7,000, is creating a few for fall that will retail for $2,500. WSJ
- According to the Los Angeles Times, Project Runway fans miss their show. Until the L.A.-set Season 6 starts, they’re making do with old seasons and foreign versions (‘Project Runway Canada,’ anyone?).
- Dallas, Texas born shoe-boutique, ShuAddikt, launched a stunning brand new site for shoe lovers, retail therapy aficionados and couture enthusiasts. ShuAddikt.com

Well, I can see why this commercial would be banned if this is a sample of what the commercial is about. I’m a mom and we can barely watch tv with out son as it is and that is with my finger sitting on the change channel button constantly as even when a show is ok, then the commercials still aren’t. The worst thing we probably watched in the 70′s was Daisy in her Daisy Duke shorts.
