Dear Oligo Editor:

Christmas shopping is not the only thing I had put of. ( I did that the day before!) I also have not had a chance to look up and consider party dresses for my New Year’s Eve bash with friends. I want to look put-together but somehow pull it off with minimal effort..er, time. Do you have any tips on how to do this….. and quickly?

Sincerely,

Ready to party in no time

Dear No Time,

Wouldn’t it be nice if someone thought of selling a New Year’s Eve Party Dress kit? Hmmm…I think I’m onto something here! In any case, time is of essence here. The clock is ticking and you should shop wisely to pull it all together without a hitch.

First things first! You need to take inventory of what you own already. Go through your jewelry box, shoes and existing clutches. Do you see a theme coming together? Look for matching sets of accessories that will make your shopping trip shorter. This step will help guide your party dress quest.

With hundreds of dresses to pick from you can narrow down the style, length and color before you even leave your house. If you are lacking in the accessory department, no worries. Still come prepared with a look in mind and dont waver! If you have a nice pair of shoes and not much else. Then go with that. Look for only dresses that compliment those shoes.

Leaving your house prepared is most of the battle. You can do that by narrowing down your favorite and possible stores to visit to only three. Make sure you pick places within your budget and a wide selection. This will make the process infinitely easier.

Once there, grab as many options as you can carry into the dressing room. You never know which is going to be the final dress. What may look so so on the rack may look stunning on you. If in doubt, grab it!

Another tip is to bring some of your accessories along on your shopping trip. This will ensure you try on the entire ensemble at the same time before you make a purchase.

Good luck! Have fun and most importantly…….have a wonderful New Year’s Eve!
