- Tory Burch opens her 17th location in New York’s meat packing district. No extravagant party was had as this luxury brand’s opening. Despite the spending cutbacks, five new stores are planned for next year along with a brand new “magazine style” website. WSJ
- Madonna is the new face of the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2009 fashion campaign. The iconic pop star strikes provocative poses in the season hottest looks. Above is a sneak peek at the campaign slated to hit magazines worldwide in February ’09.
- The original pinup queen, Bettie Page, passed away this week in Los Angeles. She lived to be 85. She will always be remembered as the beauty who broke the rules in the ’50s and had a hand in the exploration of female sexuality while sporting risque lingerie and skimpy bikinis. LA Times
- Now is the time to shop, according to a NY Times article addressing the plethora of sales to be had in department stores these days. Anyone remotely interested in fashion will be snatching up classic and timeless items at unimaginable prices.
- Saks plans on closing down all but two of its bridal salon stores to concentrate on other categories. With a net loss of $48.2 million dollars, they are taking swift action to allocate their precious resources into other segments of their business. Bloomerg
