Music Makes Fashion: Ryn Wilson
December 4, 2008 by shylab
Ryn Wilson of Junkhouse Dollyard is a Tokyo-based designer. She handcrafts each and every one of her pieces. Wilson takes vintage pieces and reconstructs them into new and inspired ones. The outcome is an explosion of delicate, feminine details and a wealth of imagination. It’s evident from her eclectic choices in music that her inspiration lays far beyond art and literature. I listen to these sounds while in my imaginary world in my Tokyo aparto-pod. Unfortunately my i-pod broke from falling to the earth too many times. I’ll stay up here to avoid breaking, thank you very much.—Ryn Wilson
1. Sweet Smell of Success by Tomahawk: because Mike Patton is creepy and it sounds like a horror film soundtrack.
2. Bondage for Satomi Fuji by Merzbow: Thirty minutes of disturbing mind control …
3. Black Petal by Haino Keiji: I like to study Japanese as if I were about to commit seppuku.
4. Circle Pit by Venetian Snares!: I like when it when the supa ninjas come out and it gets all violent.
5. Fffetish by COH: Because I’m an obsessive pervert …
6. A tie between Paper Planes and World Town by MIA: ‘cause I like it when she goes bang bang and I got my feet in the air and head on the ground.
